Weekend Garden Visitors
Just a few of the photographs taken of the various visitors to the garden over the weekend.
Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Horse Pageant.
Full set of pictures are now loaded up on my Flickr photostream : http://www.flickr.com/photos/padster1970
Ever felt like you’re being watched?
This little moggy was watching me whilst I tried to take a picture of a section of the Pyrénées. I almost fell into a ditch that was just in front of the grass in the foreground.
The people who wanted the picture of the Mountains wondered what the hell I was doing as they were sat in the nice warm car and couldn't see this fellow.
Adobe Lightroom 4.1 RC1
Adobe Lightroom 4.1 RC1 is now available. Its not a full release of the updates but at least it solves a few of the niggles that shouldn't have been in the released version of Lightroom 4.
Most importantly (for me) is the support for Canon 5d mark III files.
As this is a release candidate, Adobe won't support it, but I'm now running it in production (until the official launch) and it seems ok to me.
Details and download can be found here:

Adobe Lightroom 4
Anybody thinking about upgrading from Lightroom 3 to Lightroom 4 in the near future?
Hold off ! - unless you decide to start a fresh and choose to build up a new catalog.
There has been some posts on various blogs, support sites etc, and it now appears there may be a bug in the upgrade process - especially if you use the Tone curve graph to make edits to your shots. When you convert the image to use the new Lightroom 4 enhancements, Lightroom will default the curve back to default. This doesn't seem to affect the parametric curve, only the tone one.
Fortunately I kept a backup of my lightroom 3 catalog - so just be aware !!
The NEW Canon EOS 5D Mk III – it’s arrived!
Well, its the camera I've been waiting for ever since seeing a colleagues 5D Mark II. Thanks to Park Cameras (http://www.parkcameras.com), I'm one of the early receivers of the lens kit pack. They really did exceed my expectations of a supplier and find their service second to none!!
It's early days yet (I had a bit of a false start with the unit - but thats resolved now). I suppose I was a little apprehensive to unbox the unit at first. My EOS 7D has served me well and is in no way going to be retired any time soon. As more Studio work comes in, I needed to have a second camera which I can use on the go. The trusted 7D will now become the studio work horse.
Early tests of the EOS 5d mk 3 have really impressed me. Although the menu interface has altered, its still intuitive to a regular Canon SLR user. A lot of the controls are similar to the 7D and in no time I'd managed to work my way around the options and set up the camera how I wanted. I had a quick play with the new HDR option, multiple exposure shots, ISO expansion (down to ISO 50 !) and I have to say I think I'm going to enjoy this new beastie.
I'll be posting some of the new shots soon as I'll be using the unit on some upcoming shoots with a very good colleague (Mr Wilson!) in the not too distant future - it'll probably involve a certain brand of sports car and the Yorkshire Moors 😉
New Website!
It's taken a while, but the new website is now live. It's probably still needs some tweaking, but we are getting there.
You can now order canvases direct from the galleries.
Future updates are already being planned, especially with regards to sales of images etc.
Hope to use the blog now for giving out advice on photography and highlight other interesting blogs that I may find.
